Exeter to become UK hub for Connected Car technology

Exeter-based Lightfoot has been awarded a £1.8 million Government funded project to help cut harmful air pollution through “Connected Car” technology that rewards better drivers. The project will use Lightfoot’s trail-blazing in-car device to aid and reward smoother driving styles, cutting fuel bills and pollutants on the UK’s roads.

Charity launches new financial support project

HOMELESS charity, Community Housing Aid, has secured funding to help vulnerable people resolve financial and housing issues.

The new project, entitled What Works 4 You, will target offenders, ex-offenders and young people aged between 16-25.

It has been funded by a grant of £80,482 from the Money Advice Service and will operate from Community Housing Aid’s office at Co-Lab, Wat Tyler House, in Exeter.

Transition Exeter has organized a hustings for the Devon County Council Elections on Thursday April 27th at Exeter Community Centre at 7pm.

Local candidates from will speak and answer questions from the public. The event will be chaired by Martyn Goss, Director of Church and Society and Convenor of Exeter Food Network.

Puppies stolen from Exmouth home

Police are appealing to the public to come forward if they have recently been offered very young Shih tzu puppies for sale, if they are concerned about the provenance of the dogs.

Both dogs are four weeks old and unweaned. One is a male black and white and the other is a female, brown and white.

The dogs were taken from a residential property in Colleton Way, Exmouth on Sunday 23rd April, sometime between 8.30pm and 9.10pm. The house was unoccupied for the short space of time that the owner was admitted to hospital and a family member arrived to look after the property....

Forget just cheering on from the stands - football fans can explore the unique history of Exeter City through a new documentary as players embark on a promotion battle

Fans, former players and the current manager Paul Tisdale each explore different decades of Exeter City in the film, called Histories of St James Park, which will have a premiere at St James Park this week. Supporters are welcome at the screening of the documentary on the evening of 27 April, beginning at 7pm.

Welcome reception for holiday park guests

A celebration with a traditional Devonshire cream tea marked the opening of a popular East Devon holiday park’s new reception area.

The work at Oakdown Touring & Holiday Caravan Park, which is located outside Sidmouth, took five months to complete and employed 20 local tradespeople.

The new reception, which was officially opened by Neil Parish MP, is now ready to welcome guests to the park for the 2017 holiday season. The park’s café has also been refurbished as part of the improvement work.

Hooley to leave the Chiefs

Exeter Chiefs can confirm that fly-half Will Hooley is to leave the club at the end of the season and will move to RFU Championship side Bedford Blues.

The 23-year-old back has spent the past two seasons at Sandy Park, signing during the summer of 2015 from Aviva Premiership rivals Northampton Saints.
