Seaton Jurassic, East Devon District Council’s flagship visitor attraction, has scooped a major South West award for the best leisure and hospitality project of the year.

Devon farmers who made their home in the same remote location for 1,200 years had a taste for exotic imported food and drink, archaeologists have found.

Expansion is on the cards for automotive group Hendy as the company confirms major investment plans in the south west following a record year.

Plans include expanded Car Store operations in Exeter, new facilities in Gatwick, three brand new dealerships in Eastleigh, and the launch of Hendy Performance, a brand new division in Hampshire.

A 10-year mission to honour those who have given their lives fighting for their country has finally been realised by Cullompton resident David Godfrey, after adding the final touches this week to the memorial garden he masterminded.

A woodfuel arrived today at the memorial gardens – next to the Hayridge Centre in Cullompton – to deliver three tonnes of woodchip, which is the last detail before the garden has its official launch next week.

In the first employment survey to be published since the General Election, employers in the South West are becoming more cautious about hiring, according to ManpowerGroup, the world’s workforce experts. Police are investigating a racially aggravated public order offence where a customer became abusive towards staff at an Exeter delicatessen

Officers were called to the incident at Chandos Deli in Princesshay on Saturday[17 June] between 12.30pm and 1pm.

A 55-year-old man from Exeter was arrested on suspicion of a racially aggravated public order offence. He has been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
