The Devon-wide health and wellbeing charity, Westbank Community Health and Care, is delighted to welcome lawyer Henry Cross as its newest Trustee. Henry is a Senior Associate at Michelmores, specialising in employment law.

A father-of-two from Exeter, Henry already had a broad awareness of the charity when he met Westbank’s Head of Carers Services, Andy Hood, at a networking event a few years ago. Planning committee to consider Exmouth Tidal Defence Scheme application

At its meeting on 8 January 2019, East Devon District Council’s Development Management Committee (DMC) will consider two planning applications (ref: 18/2174/MOUT and 18/2175/LBC) submitted by the Environment Agency for tidal flood defence works in Exmouth.

The proposal is a mixture of full and outline planning permission, as well as seeking separate listed building consent for associated strengthening and drainage works to the listed Exmouth Sea Wall.

Woodbury Common road closure planned

Essential drainage improvements will be carried out on a section of the B3180 Woodbury Common Road this month.

The road will be closed for up to 12 days from Monday 7 January while work is carried out between Four Firs junction and Blackhill Quarry. The scheme involves the road being dug up which will make it impassable.

Those who normally use the B3180 to travel to Exeter or to connect to the A3052 will need to find an alternative route and allow extra time for their journey while the road is closed.

A signed diversion route will be in place.

Gregory celebrates 100 years in business with opening of a Heritage Centre

South West headquartered transport business Gregory Distribution Limited (GDL) has opened a Heritage Centre complete with restored trucks used by the business over three generations to celebrate its centenary.

The centre at GDL’s Cullompton depot in Devon was opened this week by 94 year-old Jack Gregory who joined the business in 1947 and ran it until 1985.
