The Devon-wide health and wellbeing charity, Westbank Community Health and Care, is delighted to welcome lawyer Henry Cross as its newest Trustee. Henry is a Senior Associate at Michelmores, specialising in employment law.

A father-of-two from Exeter, Henry already had a broad awareness of the charity when he met Westbank’s Head of Carers Services, Andy Hood, at a networking event a few years ago. When he subsequently learnt that Westbank was looking for a law-oriented Trustee to join its Board, he was quick to express his interest in the role.

South West apprentice success celebrated at Redrow’s apprenticeship awards

Redrow apprentice Catherine Marshall, a 17-year-old painter and decorator at the housebuilder’s Potters Lea development in Kingsteignton, Newton Abbot, has been named as a regional highly commended apprentice at Redrow’s Apprentice Excellence Awards.

The awards celebrate the hard work and commitment of all apprentices across Redrow’s business. In total, 24 apprentices from the various regional divisions were recognised for their enthusiasm and dedication to their chosen skill, with twelve crowned regional winners, while a further 12 took home highly commended certificates.

Exeter Chiefs Foundation donates over £200,000 in the last year to Exeter charities

Over £200,000 has been donated to charities and organisations in the Exeter area in the last year, thanks to the Exeter Chiefs Foundation.

Since September 2018, the Foundation has given £223,428 to local organisations, community projects and the Exeter Chiefs Foundation's designated charities.

£64,000 of this was shared with the 20 2018/19 Exeter Chiefs Foundation's designated charities at the Exeter Chiefs Season Kick-off Dinner; funds which have been raised by representatives of the charities through match-day bucket collections and car parking.

All kerbside waste collected in Devon is recycled or turned into energy

Councillor Andrea Davis, Devon County Council’s Cabinet Member for Infrastructure Development & Waste, has announced that Devon no longer sends any rubbish from kerbside collections to landfill.
