Westbank’s Community Allotment made accessible to all thanks to Kier’s volunteers

Manpower and materials donated to Westbank Community Health and Care by the Kier Group have transformed the charity’s Community Allotment at Exminster into a space that’s accessible to everyone.

Eleven local volunteers from Kier’s Natural Resources Nuclear & Networks division recently worked over a total of about 4 days to create a tarmac access ramp, level the ground and lay a concrete pathway to make the allotment accessible to wheelchair users. The monetary value of the work amounts to approximately £7,000, including labour and materials.

Exeter’s Brandon Taylor is running this Sunday’s Virgin Money London Marathon in aid of St John Ambulance.

An Olympic mother-and-daughter duo are inviting people from Devon to join a month-long charity challenge for runners of all abilities.

Diabetes UK’s Month of Miles is all about choice, as those taking part can choose when to start and how far to go. They have a month to complete their chosen distance, and all funds raised will go towards helping transform the lives of people living with diabetes across the UK.

A team of cyclists will embark on their very own Tour de Devon this week to raise money for FORCE Cancer Charity.

THIS September – Childhood Cancer Awareness Month – people in Devon and Cornwall are being called on to clear out their wardrobes to help more children and young people survive cancer.

They are being urged to donate pre-loved quality fashion and homeware to TK Maxx’s Give Up Clothes for Good campaign, in support of Cancer Research UK for Children & Young People.

When sold in Cancer Research UK shops, each bag of items donated could raise up to £25 to help fund research into children’s and young people’s cancers.

Howdens Joinery, located in Exmouth, held its annual trade day on August 19th with local builders to help raise money for Amica Care Trust.

Wealth manager Brewin Dolphin’s South West offices (Exeter, Plymouth and Truro) have been busy organising and taking part in various fundraising challenges for their chosen charity, Exeter-based Farms for City Children , and have raised £10,000 since January 2020.
