Leading property consultancy JLL has appointed Nicola Cochrane as an associate director in its hotels and hospitality group, based in the Exeter office.

Nicola will be looking to grow the regional advisory/valuation business working alongside and supporting the existing successful agency business team which includes John Kinsey, Mike Easton, Adelle Moore, Lynne Biswell and David Slee, who works within project and development services, specialising in the leisure sector.

Exeter Chiefs lock Geoff Parling keeps his place in an England side that shows three changes to it’s staring XV for Saturday’s crunch Rugby World Cup Pool A encounter with Australia at Twickenham (8pm).

Appeal to trace relatives of Bradford man

The Bradford Coroner is appealing for information to trace Devon relatives of Edward Ireland, 69, who died in Bradford on 28 September.

Mr Ireland died of natural causes at his home in Farside Green with no suspicious circumstances. It is thought that he has relatives living in the Devon and Bath areas.

Any relatives, or anyone who has information about his next of kin, should contact Symone Holmes at the Bradford Coroner’s Office on: 01274 475299.

New Children's Hospice South West shop opens in Exeter

Founder and CEO of Children’s Hospice South West, Eddie Farwell, opened the charity’s new shop in Exeter today (Thursday 1 October).

£130k funding boost for Get Active Exeter

An initiative to get more adults in Exeter active has today (1 October) received a massive financial boost.

Get Active Exeter, whose ambition is to make Exeter the most active city in the South West by 2018, has been given a £130,000 grant from Sport England.

Get Active Exeter is a multi-sports partnership led by Exeter City Council, Exeter Health and Wellbeing Board and Active Devon, set up to get more adults in Exeter involved in physical activity.

The University of Exeter has broken into the top 100 universities in the world for the first time in the most influential global league table.

The University is now ranked 93rd in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, placing it among the very best institutions across the globe.

The new ranking marks a significant rise for the University, having leapt from 154th last year, and cements its position as being amongst the top 1 per cent of universities worldwide.

Popular local band Station Road will be performing after the last race to end the season in style.

Racing for the afternoon starts at 13:55, with gates opening at 11:55. The last race is at 17:05.
