More people than ever can go off the beaten track to explore the countryside as the National Trust launches an all-terrain mobility scooter that can go ‘off road’, opening up the Killerton Estate to people with limited mobility. Exeter’s new IKEA store is starting to take shape

The long-awaited outlet at Newcourt Way, near Sandy Park on the outskirts of the city, is due to open in early summer 2018.

And as these pictures show, the development is rapidly taking shape.

IKEA has invested £80 million in the new Exeter store, which will be the 21st IKEA in the UK. It will create 350 new jobs.

Police appeal for witnesses after serious A35 crash

Police are seeking witnesses to a serious collision near Axminster yesterday afternoon [10 August] which left four men injured.

Emergency services were called to the A35 at Kilmington at 2pm following the collision between a blue VW Passat and a red Chevrolet Corvette.

The Corvette driver, a 57-year-old man from Wellington, and a male passenger both sustained serious injuries and were airlifted to hospital where they remain in a stable condition.

At a recent meeting W. Bro. Dr. Reuben Ayres, Devonshire Freemasons Provincial Charity Steward, presented Tony Griffin, the Chairman of the Exmouth Sea Cadets Management Committee, with a cheque for £2,000, this brings the total given by the Freemasons in recent years to £4,250.

The Cadets need for funding came about after the East Devon District Council terminated the lease of their old building and, due to its very dilapidated state and lack of amenities, this had also restricted the number of cadets able to use the building.

The UK’s leading marine charity is urging people who love the coast to organise a beach clean and survey and do their bit in the worldwide fight against marine litter.

The Marine Conservation Society (MCS) will be running its 24th annual Great British Beach Clean-up event between the 15th and 18th September. The charity hopes this year’s clean-up will put the UK in the top ten of the 100 or so participating countries and regions which take part in the International Coastal Clean-up during the same weekend every year.

On Saturday 12 August 2017 Lidl are holding a recruitment fair at Cranbrook’s Younghayes Centre where people can find out about the jobs at their new Regional Distribution Centre, which is set to open in the autumn.
