Exeter YMCA Dartmoor Walk raises over £2,500

Exeter YMCA saw fantastic success for their annual ‘Y-Walk’ event on Saturday 1 June, as a group of more than 40 trekked 11 miles from Okehampton Camp to Postbridge. The participants raised a fantastic £2,590, which will help further the YMCA’s work of providing accommodation and support to homeless young people.

As the summer approaches, people of all ages have the chance to find out what Exeter College offers them.

The Higher Education and Adult Learning Fair, at Hele Road 4 July, 5-8pm, is the ideal opportunity for people 19 and over to find out about learning new skills, meeting new people and gaining new qualifications, as well as finding out about the university-level courses at the college. Shrinking pay sees £5.7bn lost from South West economy

The value of the South West’s overall pay packet has fallen by 10% since 2007, according to a TUC analysis published today (Tuesday) to launch its new pay campaign: Britain Needs A Pay Rise. The TUC analysis of official figures shows that on the eve of the recession in 2007 workers across the South West were earning a total of £57bn (in 2012 prices). South West tops the leader board for householders installing solar

Latest Ofgem figures reveal that over the last year the South West has topped the ‘league table’ for households installing solar panels, with more than 15,000 confirmed installations and around 57 MW installed capacity. This compares to the next closest region, the south east with 13,000 followed by the east midlands with just over 12,000 installations. This event is aimed at promoting the Samsung Bike Week and encouraging as many people to get on or get back on a bike for Sunday 23 June.

The day will start at 9am from the Double Locks Pub Garden, we will encourage people to park at the Canal Bridges car park and cycle to meet us. The ride will set off between 9am and 10am.
