Country hungry for Devon Restaurant Month

This year's Devon Restaurant Month, which took place in June, was a resounding success. Over 30 establishments across the county participated and the feedback from all was 'outstanding'. Next year will see the fifth Devon Restaurant Month and it promises to raise the bar even higher and bring even more custom into the county's bounty of eateries.

Commenting on its success, Jeff Cooper, founder of Devon Restaurant Month, says: "The Devon restaurant scene is almost unrecognisable from what it was a few years ago. When we first set up Devon Restaurant Month it...

Are your cosmetics killing the oceans?

Everyday cosmetic and cleaning products contain huge quantities of plastic particles, which are released to the environment and could be harmful to marine life, according to a new study.

Research at Plymouth University has shown almost 100,000 tiny ‘microbeads’ – each a fraction of a millimetre in diameter – could be released in every single application of certain products, such as facial scrubs.

This is an exploration. I want to tell a story – well, my family’s story. Some of it may be true and some may not. There was a song my mom used to sing to me, which her father sang to her. It may have been Irish (that’s where he came from) or even American (that’s where I come from). Or possibly Scottish (weird, because none of us are from Scotland).

Using poetry and live folk music, this show is for anyone who has ever tried to untangle a family anecdote, or wished they knew more about where they came from.

Tickets: £5 Tuesdays and £10/ £8 Wed-Sat
