The Family Law Company appoints additional Shareholder

The Family Law Company has announced the appointment of experienced family law Solicitor Imran Khodabocus to Shareholder.

His appointment brings the number of Shareholders to ten, contributing to the firm’s succession planning strategy.

Khodabocus joined the specialist law firm in 2016. He now heads up the Domestic Abuse team, specialising in children and domestic abuse matters which are complex and sensitive. He also acts for children and grandparents in care proceedings.

Devon firms urged to cut procurement fraud

Businesses in Devon are being urged to do more to reduce the hundreds of millions of pounds lost to fraud in the county each year. With procurement fraud now recognised as the second most frequently reported form of economic crime, analysis of figures from the National Fraud Authority carried out by Devon-based blur Group, reveals that £126m a year is lost to fraud by businesses in the county, including £52.6m to procurement fraud. Business are set to benefit from Council plans to increase the availability of flexible working spaces across the county.

With an estimated 20 per cent of Devon's workers working from home, the Council says more flexible working hubs are needed.

The Lord's Taverners Christmas lunch this year reached peak numbers, being attended by 630 business people, resulting in the largest event ever to be hosted by Sandy Park in Exeter.

South West jobs optimism rebounding

The first quarter of 2016 has seen a boost of confidence within the jobs market in the South West with hiring intentions of +9% according to Manpower, the world’s workforce experts. This is a jump of seven percentage points from the last quarter.

Owners of small businesses across Exeter took to the streets in a specially-commissioned open top bus to spread their ‘shop local’ message to Christmas shoppers.

Stagecoach South West’s open top bus drove around the shopping areas on the outskirts of the city collecting owners of small businesses. The Conservative Group on East Devon District Council has given its full backing to a proposed bid to establish a Heart Of The South West ‘powerhouse’.

If successful, the HOTSW bid would create a powerful partnership between local authorities in Devon and Somerset, building on benefits from recent collaboration, and working with Government to exploit economic opportunities of truly global significance.
