The Lord's Taverners Christmas lunch this year reached peak numbers, being attended by 630 business people, resulting in the largest event ever to be hosted by Sandy Park in Exeter.

The fundraising lunch began with a drinks reception then a delicious festive meal and bidding in the charity auction to win a private jet flight and lunch to Jersey, box at the Exeter Chiefs and rides in yachts and sports cars to name but a few.

A true or false quiz eliminated the room down to a winner for the top prize of an Xbox One and crackers were pulled to reveal lucky tickets and a host of gifts to choose from, all raising a staggering £65,000 towards the worthwhile projects the charity supports.  Guests were entertained by comedian Barry Williams.

David Kirk, partner at Kirk Hills Chartered Accountants and Chair of Devon and Cornwall Lord's Taverners says: "We were overwhelmed by the fact the lunch sold out in fours days which goes to show what a popular event this is in everyone's diaries.

"The amount raised exceeds all our expectations and will certainly help us support even more projects this coming year.  What a fantastic atmosphere at Sandy Park and we would like to thank everyone who came to make it a day to remember'.
