Devon business officially UK's best
A young East Devon business, founded only nine months ago, was crowned Best New Business UK at the 2015 National Entrepreneurs Success Summit and Awards held in Birmingham.
In front of over 900 UK entrepreneurs, renowned author Michael Gerber, famed for his book ‘The E Myth’ gave the prestigious award to Alan Marriott of The Property Press, who came through a field of 211 nominations and 55 finalists from businesses across the UK, to pick up a top prize.
Commenting on the win, Alan Marriot said: “I am delighted to have had our thriving new business recognised by winning this top award. I am very proud of the team behind The Property Press, which has made a real impact on the property market in East Devon.”
The judging panel commented: ‘The Property Press has become the number one paper almost overnight in the region. The accuracy in understanding the market needs, the speed of implementation and dominating the market so quickly was all impressive. It is a robust approach. There will be a lot of interest in The Property Press in 2016.’
The Property Press was founded by local businessman and Exmouth ‘born and bred’ resident, Alan Marriott, in response to the demands from estate agents in and around Exmouth. In the nine months since, it has not only had a major impact on the estate agency sector, but on many local businesses as well.
“Businesses use it to get their messages across to over 23,000 households each fortnight. It works because of the interest people have in browsing local property,” says Alan.
Bruce Penny, Chairman of the Exmouth Estate Agents Association said: “The approach and innovation that sits behind The Property Press is exceptional. The difference it has made is beyond what we could have envisaged at its inception. It just shows what can be done when you get the right people in the room working on finding solutions. This award is deserved recognition for everyone involved. I am delighted.”
The establishment of The Property Press has led to over 50 part time and several full time jobs and supply contracts being awarded to local business. “Our emphasis is on keeping it local. And that’s what we will be doing,” added Alan.
“We are a small local business with bigger ambition yet. This is fabulous recognition, but it’s just a start. We are a young business with a great team and a bright future.”
