A FOLK dance for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer plus (LGBTQ+) people and friends will be held at Exeter Phoenix in Gandy Street, Exeter on Saturday, April 1.

The ceilidh, which will run from 8pm to 11pm, is being run by Gender Free Dance, an organisation that promotes folk dancing in a safe and non-discriminatory environment.

Gender Free Dance held its first such ceilidh, which was well-attended, in Exeter in November.

The Thatched House pub in Exeter is to host its first ever real ale festival with a bumper two-day event including live music.

Starting at 5pm on Friday 31 March the ‘Alepril Fool’ beer festival will then run on into Saturday 1 April with local buskers providing entertainment on both evenings.

Figures from the NSPCC state that 1 in 20 children in the UK have been sexually abused, but the charity says the numbers are the tip of the iceberg.
