A special screening of a landmark film will be held to mark the 20th anniversary of Exeter's Bill Douglas Cinema Museum this week.

First released 30 years ago in 1987, Comrades was made by director and collector Bill Douglas and is now regarded as a masterpiece, following years when it wasn’t seen by film-goers. Police are appealing for witnesses to a serious assault which took place at 3.30am on Sunday 9th April 2017, near the National Westminster bank on Rolle Street, Exmouth.

A 29-year-old man was assaulted by an unknown male leaving the victim with a serious head wound.

DC Rob Poole of Exmouth CID said: “We would like to reassure the public that we consider this to be an isolated incident. However, we are still keen to speak to anyone who saw this assault, which was serious.”

IT was a thrilling final for Exeter United who were the winners of Exeter City’s One Game One Community's fourth Futsal tournament held at the University of Exeter Sports Centre on Sunday, April 23.

Exeter United beat the team T P Mazembe, named after the Congalese football club based in Lubumbashi, 2-0.

Fire crews from across Devon and Somerset have been tackling a large gorse fire on Woodbury Common.

The blaze started art around 2pm today (Sunday) and smoke could be seen for miles across Exeter and Haldon Hill.

Twenty appliances were sent to tackle the flames that were fanned by high winds.

The B3180 is closed between Four Firs and Halfway Inn on the A3052.

Members of the public are asked to avoid the Woodbury area while Emergency Services deal with the fire.

After the sell-out success of Bob Dylan’s legendary The Beaten Path, a series of limited edition hand-signed silkscreen prints have been released and will be on display at Castle Fine Art from next week.
