The sky above Princesshay’s Bedford Square is set to be transformed for 8 weeks when a flock of swifts made from recycled plastic bottles take flight as part of a jaw-dropping sculpture commissioned by the centre to celebrate its tenth birthday. Princesshay has commissioned an exciting art installation sculpture by environmental artist, Naomi Hart, as part of its tenth birthday celebrations. The sculpture will feature thousands of swift birds created by Naomi from recycled plastic bottles, collected from Princesshay stores and restaurants. Arts Council announces four year funding for Exeter Northcott Theatre

Exeter Northcott Theatre are delighted that Arts Council England has recognised the invigorating work and vision of the theatre and has awarded £125,000 a year over the period of the National Portfolio Programme for 2018 - 2022.

This good news comes at a time when the Theatre is thriving, with 86 shows on offer this year, and audience numbers increased to over 92,000 in the last year. Devon’s buzzing multi-disciplinary arts organisation Exeter Phoenix is getting a face lift and exciting new contemporary art gallery facilities thanks to funding awarded from Arts Council England for a new capital project.

In addition, the organisation’s crucial main funding has been extended for a further four years, allowing it to continue its core activity into the future. The much-loved public space is used by up to 300,000 people every year from Devon and beyond.

Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir (BSMVC) will support Devon Air Ambulance (DAA) in celebration of their 25th year of service with a gala concert at Exeter Cathedral this summer. A group of Exeter students aged 17-19 from the Exeter City Football In The Community BTEC Sport programme travelled a total of 286 miles to participate in the ever growing, EFL Futsal National finals.

Expectations were high as Exeter teams had previously performed well with the Express & Echo awarding their prestigious “Team of the Year “accolade for winning the competition last year.

Local adoption charity launches the Atrium

Families for Children, local adoption agency and charitable trust, were joined by patron and adoptee Michael Caines, MBE, to officially launch their new Centre for Adoption Support, the Atrium.
