Recycling Week highlights Exeter’s commitment to recycling

Recycling is high on the household agenda of people in Exeter according to a new survey launched to coincide with Recycling Week. (September 25-October 1)

More than 80 per cent of people questioned in the One Poll survey confirmed that they recycle as much as possible and less than three per cent admitted to not caring about recycling.

The survey by five star housebuilder Barratt Homes which is building new homes across the city, revealed that men and women are equally committed to recycling but there was a definite difference in the approach of age groups.

DCC uses technology to help sign language users access local services

Devon County Council has introduced a new way for users of British Sign Language (BSL) to contact them via a Video Relay Service (VRS). The service, called 'InterpretersLive!', is provided by Sign Solutions.

BSL users can contact the council via the interpreter through a video link. The interpreter relays their conversation with the appropriate person at the Council, by telephone and then signs back the response.

A paediatric X-ray room at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital has been given a submarine style makeover thanks to fundraising campaign led by Radiology staff.

The Big Raise for Little Rays campaign aimed to refurbish an X-ray room so that it would be more friendly and welcoming for younger patients. Thanks to the efforts of staff and local fundraisers the room has been given a marine makeover complete with a deep sea diver, make-believe periscope, control panels and portholes looking out to sea from which tropical fish, turtles and even a whale can be spotted swimming by.

Age is no barrier for apprentices at Gregory Distribution
