Exeter law firm Browne Jacobson has announced that it has appointed Abby Ewen as its new IT Director.

Working closely with Iain Blatherwick, Managing Partner, and the Firm’s Executive Board, Abby will head up the firm’s award winning IT team.

MP backs new ACE Tiverton special school as it welcomes first students

Local MP Neil Parish has backed ACE Tiverton to provide high-quality education to young people in Devon with special educational needs.

The special school, which opened its doors on Monday, will cater for 70 young people aged 11 to 16 years old who have identified needs relating to Autism, Communication Social, Emotional and Mental Health. The new staff have been busily preparing their classrooms in the newly refurbished building, ready for the first day of school. The building used to be a care home and has been converted by Devon County Council in a £4.5 million project.

Two Tribes so nearly champions

A ladies' skittles team from Exeter narrowly missed top honours at the weekend when they were runners up in the British Skittles Championships. Two Tribes from Exeter found themselves in the finals for the first time, facing previous champions the Dolly Mixers from Totnes.

The Dolly Mixers finally triumphed by just ten pins over Two Tribes in a rollercoaster final as each team took it in turns to take the lead. Final score was 338 – 328.

A new scheme for people aged 55 and over which will help them enjoy the freedom and exhilaration of swimming in open water, is already oversubscribed.

Wild East Devon and LED Community Leisure have joined forces to run swimming sessions to give people the confidence to swim in open water and in the sea.

Glow in the Park, 5k fun run

The Glow in the Park fun run invites people to dance, walk, jog or run though a 5K route with nine different ‘Glow Zones’.
