Having marked their return to Gallagher Premiership action with a maximum haul against Leicester Tigers, Exeter Chiefs are now bracing themselves for two testing away-day assignments, the first of which comes tomorrow night at Sale Sharks (6pm).

A book about Little Miss Homeless has been created to raise awareness of women's homelessness.

A not-for-profit parody of the Mr Men series, the story's main character leaves home due to domestic violence, stays in a night shelter, on a friend's sofa and on the streets.

Issues raised in the story (which is not for children) include drugs and sexual violence – and there is no happy ending for Little Miss Homeless.

Written by Harriet Earle-Brown, a PhD student at the University of Exeter, the story is available for free online.

Experts have increased the number of lifestyle factors known to influence our risk of developing dementia from nine to 12. Taking action on these factors across the life course could delay or prevent the condition in 40 per cent of people who would otherwise develop dementia.

Professor Clive Ballard, of the University of Exeter, is an author on an update to The Lancet Commission on dementia prevention, intervention, and care , which is being presented at the Alzheimer’s Association International Conference (AAIC 2020).

For the past few weeks composer / technologist Simon Belshaw has been working on a project to create a Zoom version of his Music Machine 4 for 8 players sound installation.

The Arts Council funded physical installation was scheduled for March 2020 but had to be cancelled due to Covid-19.

The piece uses 8 novation launchpads and 8 Raspberry Pi computers. The launchpads have an 8x8 grid of buttons, when one of these lights up the performer presses it and a short cell of music is played.

Devon’s Tesco stores are holding a special summer food collection to support the Trussell Trust and FareShare charities as they respond to an increased demand for food in the wake of the pandemic.

From August 20 to 22 customers can donate essential items of long-life food to the good causes. Tesco will top up all customer donations with an additional 20% donation in cash to the two charities.

A new programme designed to help people develop their digital skills and improve job prospects is being delivered by Exeter health and wellbeing charity CITY Community Trust, as the economy continues to be hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
