Potential university students unable to tour universities to make decisions about their future are flocking online to innovative “virtual prospectuses”, lectures and advice sessions.

University of Exeter staff who work with pupils around the country to encourage them to go on to higher education are embracing technology to provide extensive and open access online content while schools and campuses are closed.

Three Joes, the sourdough pizza and craft beer restaurant chain, has acquired the fourteen strong ‘The Stable’ pizza chain (turnover £14.6million) from Fullers for an undisclosed sum.

The acquisition sees the company expand its geographical spread into the south west, Wales and the Midlands, and includes sites based in in Bath, Birmingham, Bournemouth, Bridport, Bristol, Cardiff, Exeter, Falmouth, Newquay, Plymouth, Southampton and Winchester.

Further road layout changes to support walking and cycling in Exeter

A temporary one-way system has been introduced in Magdalen Road in Exeter as part of measures to boost walking and cycling and support social distancing.

Devon County Council is continuing to roll-out its “pop-up” improvements which are being funded with an initial £338,000 from the Government’s Emergency Active Travel Fund.

A church in Exeter has developed an exciting partnership to help distribute food to people in need across the area at this time.

Rediscover Church in Northernhay Street, Exeter, is working with FareShare which has an operation in Bristol, and is a charity which works with supermarkets across the region to help provide food to people who might have difficulties accessing it and those with financial difficulties at this time.

A triathlon coach from Teignmouth has received vital funding from the Swimathon Foundation.

Pete Wilby, founder of PeteWilbyTriathlOn, a triathlon and open water swimming coaching service, applied for the grant as part of Swimathon Foundation’s Covid-19 Relief Fund, announced last month, to fill the void left upon the suspension of coaching and access to open water.

These are among the questions addressed by a tool that calculates the scale and extent of household plastic use, developed by the University of Exeter Business School’s plastics research hub.
