Kruger coins and laptops stolen during Sidford burglary

Two distinctive 10 oz South African Kruger coins have been stolen during a burglary at Sidford. Police are appealing for witnesses after the home in Drakes Avenue was entered between 8.55 and 15.40 on Friday 16th November 2012 when the thieves managed to break in through a PVC door. In addition, they stole several items including electrical items, jewellery and camera equipment. It is likely that this was carried away in a distinctive black Sidmouth Rugby Club kit bag. Exeter school children connect for nature

200 children aged between five and 15 years of age from across 20 Exeter school’s came together recently to celebrate the world of wildlife around them.

The conference, organised by Devon Wildlife Trust, was staged at the city’s St Peter’s Church of England School and took place on Friday 9th November. Its theme was ‘the bigger picture’ and asked students to think about how taking small, local steps to help wildlife can lead to big and impressive results.

Devon Councillor warns of hidden risks of smoking in new campaign

A Devon County Councillor has spoken of the difficulty faced by his father who died of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD).

Cllr Philip Sanders , 65, from Tavistock in Devon, said his father had been a life long smoker and after being diagnosed with COPD his last five or six years were uncomfortable and unpleasant.

Cllr Sanders is now supporting a new campaign launched last week called ‘ Take a breath’ that highlights the dangers of COPD which accounts for more deaths every year in the UK than breast, prostate or bowel cancer.

Temporary home sought for Police puppy Betty

Police dog handlers are trying to track down a temporary home for a new puppy before she begins her police training.

Betty, an 11-week-old German shepherd, needs a home for nine months to help with socialisation prior to embarking on her new career.

She is too young to start intensive training, so police require a family to home her with until her first birthday.

Once a fully trained general purpose police dog she will be able to assist tracking missing people, locate stolen property, chase and detain suspects and keep order in crowd...

Devon & Cornwall's new Police and Crime Commissioner, Tony Hogg, who received 64,419 votes in last week's election, has said that he believed his military background helped him gain the winning votes.

Artists channel their inner CALM through 3D printing

Exeter Comedy Club Christmas at the Corn Exchange

Exeter Comedy Club seems to be proof that we all enjoy a good laugh in difficult times. The club which is hosted at the city’s Corn Exchange continues to sell-out show after show and the Christmas specials are heading the same way.
