People eating out in Exeter this Christmas should check out the restaurant or pub's food hygiene rating before they study the menu.

"If there is no sticker on the door or window of the restaurant, diners either need to ask themslves why this is the case or question the restaurant manager. Anyone who has a good rating of three or above has nothing to hide!" said Cllr Greg Sheldon, Lead Councillor for Environment and Leisure.

Ex-offender supports police Christmas theft campaign

A former prolific offender who stole from homes and vehicles across South Devon has joined forces with Devon and Cornwall Police to help prevent people from being a victim this Christmas.

The 36-year-old racked up 324 offences for burglary and vehicle crime but has now turned his life around and is helping police get the message across that ‘Not everyone is welcome this Christmas’.

The Snail and the Whale exhibition opens today

Arts education charity Daisi will be drawing on its team of more than 150 professional artists and its links with schools across the county once more to put together a very special project, which is part of a longer-term partnership with Exeter Northcott Theatre.

Delays continue on trains between Exeter and Tiverton

The recent flooding in the South West is continuing to cause disruption to train journeys between Exeter St Davids and Tiverton Parkway.

Because of this, there are delays of up to 25 minutes between Exeter St Davids and Tiverton Parkway. These delays will continue until further notice.

Growing public anger at Starbucks was clear this weekend as over 40 of their shops across the UK - including in Exeter and Bristol - were targeted on Saturday by the anti-cuts direct action network, UK Uncut.

Fire service Simulator used to prevent drink driving

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service (DSFRS) are encouraging the public in Torbay to ‘drive’ their Simulator as part of this year’s anti drink driving campaign.

They have joined forces with Torbay Police and Torbay Council Road Safety Team to promote the importance of not drinking and driving this Christmas. A UK-led team of researchers has identified 15 issues that could affect the diversity of life on Earth in 2013. They include using synthetic DNA to genetically modify organisms, soaring demand for coconut water, and competition for land to grow plants for fish farming.
