Devon’s Crealy, located just off junction 30 on the M5, is reporting a great start to the year and the double award-winning Park is predicting a good year for the South West tourism industry.

Shoppers want more British food in supermarkets after horse meat scandal

In the wake of the horse meat scandal, consumers have told the NFU that they want to see more British food on supermarket shelves and in restaurants.

More than 86 per cent of shoppers are as likely or more likely to buy more traceable food that has been produced on British farms. A further 78 per cent agree or strongly agree that supermarkets should sell more British food.

Special Event marks National Apprenticeship Week 11-15 March

Devon County Council is calling on small and medium-sized businesses to think about the benefits of offering an apprenticeship.

The Council is organising a special event at Sandy Park in Exeter on Tuesday 12 March to bring young people and potential employers together.

Businesses are being encouraged to sign up to the event to see how they could get involved and maybe find a suitable apprentice for their organisation.

The day starts with a Business Breakfast between 8-9am for those considering taking on apprentices to find out more information.

Ahead of the forthcoming Devon County Council Elections on Thursday 2 May 2013, Councillor Richard Westlake was unanimously elected as the new Leader of the Devon County Council Labour Group, which is hopeful of making gains this year.

The county Labour Group will shortly be launching their new Manifesto “A Fair Deal For Devon” and are looking to field a full slate of 62 candidates across the county to maximise support against the Con-Dem Coalition.

Car collides with horse on the A380 on Telegraph Hill

Devon & Somerset Fire & Rescue were called to a road traffic collision on the A380, Telegraph Hill near to Ideford this morning.

One fire appliance was despatched to the incident from Exeter Danes Castle and one from Exeter Middlemoor.

On arrival crews found a single vehicle that had been involved in a collision with a horse. Fire crews report that nobody was trapped within the vehicle. Several horses were on the carriageway and were being looked after by police, whilst the casualties were being cared for by paramedics.

Royal visit celebrates Exeter Cathedral's successful £8 million fundraising campaign

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are visiting Exeter Cathedral later today for a special thanksgiving service to celebrate the success of its £8 million fundraising campaign. The Prince is Patron of the campaign and visited the Cathedral in 2009 to mark the half way stage. The Duchess of Cornwall joined thousands of other visitors last July to view the ‘Majesty’ Flower Festival as part of the Cathedral’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.
