Hosted by Sidmouth Sailing Club, there will be sea and shore based activies for the youngsters, sailing races, a raft race, a grand firework display, childrens fancy dress, family treasure hunt, bouncy castle, Punch and Judy, cake and sweet stall and a Real Ale tent!

Westpoint is a fantastic summer event - a place to come into the presence of God and learn, love and go alongside hundreds of his people.

Newfrontiers Churches from the South and South West are holding their annual bible weekend at Westpoint from 22rd - 25th August. They expect to see 2000 adults, young people and children attend, with main meetings in the Arena and camping on site.

There will be a wide and varied programme of events across the weekend including: Sports and Games, Big Meetings, Prayer, Fantastic Childrens Activities.

Wonderland Week

Dont be late for the tea party. Follow Alice down the rabbit hole to meet the weird and wonderful characters in Wonderland!

The interactive sessions take place at 12.30 and 2.30. Each child wishing to take part will be given a session ticket on arrival. Gather in the courtyard at your given time and wait for the fun to begin! Each session lasts about 50 minutes.

Captain Jack and his lively crew are back from Tortuga for some more pirate antics. Your last chance to meet him this season!

Shakespeare: Romeo & Juliet

Western Counties Heavy Horse Society Annual 'Working' Show

A special show event for all lovers of horses and agricultural events.

From Plough to Loaf will be demonstrated; ploughing, rolling, harrowing and drilling. Corn will be cut with a binder drawn by three shire horses. Brae will be baked on the field and a commentator will explain the whole process.

Other ring events include an opportunity to 'Have a Go' at ploughing following instruction.

Craft stalls and other unusual features.

Free parking on site.

The garden at Little Ash Bungalow at Fenny Bridges opens to the public on Sunday 18 August.

Gardener Helen Brown has developed a haven for wildlife which is just bursting with late summer colour and buzzing with insects. The garden has been developed over the past 13 years and has mixed tree, shrub and herbaceous borders filled with unusual plants; a pond and natural stream, with shady woodland area. The garden is designed to blend into the countryside beyond and enjoys lovely views towards East Hill and the River Otter.

Science Fiction Week

Aliens have been spotted in the Castle grounds. Dr What and Agent Why (from the ministry of big secrets) attempt to make contact and find out more about these strange creatures!

Budleigh Salterton Art Club Summer Exhibition

Craft event at the Devon Heritage Centre

Residents are invited to try out some of the old crafts their ancestors used to work in at a special event at the Devon Heritage Centre this month.

‘Creative Crafts: Past and Present’ will take place on Monday August 19 from 10am–4pm, and will include demonstrations of lacemaking, spinning, knitting, crochet and other crafts. There will also be the opportunity to have a go at some of these crafts, which were once cottage industries are now enjoyed as hobbies for pleasure, as well as explore displays and exhibitions about various old crafts and the people who worked in them....
