Tidy result for East Devon villages in 2013 Best Kept Village competition

East Devon villages that have been successful in the 2013 Best Kept Village competition, promoted by the Devon Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE), were rewarded in a ceremony at EDDC’s Full Council meeting last week.

Representatives of the winning villages are pictured receiving certificates from EDDC’s Chairman, Councillor Graham Godbeer, and Vice-Chairman Councillor Mrs Christine Drew.

A new Head of Residential Estate Agency has joined Kivells, one of the longest established estate agency practices in the south west. Marc Cottrell has been an estate agent in the south west and beyond for many years. Having sold his own North Devon agency, he relocated to Cornwall and worked for specialist country homes departments in Truro based estate agencies. Subsequently he was offered a directorship of a national estate agency focussed on the higher end of the market. Free wheelchair rugby taster sessions in Exeter this weekend

Great Britain Wheelchair Rugby is offering the chance to try out one of the 2012 Paralympic Games most popular sport in Exeter. Free taster sessions will be on offer for anyone who wants to have a go on Sunday 3 November from 11am-1pm and 2pm-4pm at St Peter's School, Quarry Lane.

RAMM Friends’ lunchtime lecture: Bottled water – what’s in it for you?

Dr John D Mather, Emeritus Professor of Geology, University of London, will explain what is in bottled water and how it varies.

Most bottled water is groundwater whose composition results from the interaction of rainwater and the rocks through which it flows.

The talk will show how you can interpret the analyses provided on bottle labels and encourage you to become a more discerning water consumer.

It will also look at the packaging used to persuade you to buy a particular brand.

2013 has seen the continued rise of this UK singer songwriter whose debut album English Rain entered the UK charts at no.2 earlier this month.

SW1 promoted a sell out show with Gabrielle in Falmouth earlier this year and are delighted to be working once again with such a talent.

Choral Music Old and New

EXODUS is one of Exeter’s newest and most vibrant choirs. Set up in the autumn of 2012 by Michael Graham, the choir offers dynamic concert programmes performed by the finest singers in the area.

The Artistic Director and Conductor, Michael Graham, is a Choral Scholar at Exeter Cathedral, Director of Chapel Music at the University of Exeter and conducts various local choirs. Matt Cann was Director of Antiphon and is a Lay Clerk at Exeter Cathedral. This year he will continue to sing bass with Exodus as well as sharing the role of Conductor.
