Exeter Citizen's Advice moves offices

Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) will be taking over a ground floor office complex in the Civic Centre – giving it a more prominent location in the city centre.

The bureau, which provides free advice to the people of Exeter, has signed a lease on the building with Exeter City Council.

Dennis Mardon, chair of Exeter CAB, said: ‘We are delighted to be moving into new premises. We will be able to offer a more modern environment for our clients, staff and volunteers.

Specsavers in Exeter is encouraging young designers to get creative with an Easter-themed colouring competition.

Specsavers Exeter, located at 247 High Street, has called on primary school children to get crafty and create a bespoke Easter egg, with the winner receiving an art kit and a free Easter Egg.

Appeal after Eldery Woman Injured in Exeter Mugging

Police have launched a public appeal after an 86-year-old woman was injured in a mugging near St Thomas Pleasure Ground in Exeter on Sunday morning.

The woman suffered arm and shoulder injuries and was treated at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital. She was also very shaken by the incident.

The incident took place sometime between 8:00am and 9:00am on Sunday (13 April) when a man stole the elderly vicitm’s handbag on a footpath running between the St Thomas pleasure ground and Buller road.

Exeter Bus Users Protected by Price Freezes

Regular bus users in Exeter are to be protected by a price freeze later this month as Stagecoach South West raise bus fares by an average of 2.6%.

Under the plans the Exeter Dayrider, Exeter Megarider Plus tickets and the unlimited day travel Explorer tickets as well as most of the region’s megarider tickets will see their prices frozen in an effort to limit the affect of the price on regular bus users.

Devon and Cornwall Police Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer has this week met Pope Francis in the Vatican to raise awareness of human trafficking and slavery.
