Devon's latest recycling centre in Sidmouth has made it into the finals in a prestigious national competition.
The site was announced as a 'runner up' in the Civic Amenity Site of the Year category in this years Awards for Excellence in Recycling and Waste Management organised by letsrecycle.com, making it one of the best in the UK.
The awards, now in their eleventh year, are renowned for showcasing innovation, dedication and success in recycling and sustainable waste management and were marked by an event at the Landmark Hotel in London on 1 May.

A short film by a University of Exeter film student has been selected to be showcased as part of Directors’ Fortnight at the Cannes Film Festival. Aygul Bakanova’s film the‘Void’, includes famous actors and is the product of collaboration with the Danish director Milad Alami. An Exeter man has been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a a coach hit a wall in Cornwall killing two female passengers. Emergency crews were called to the scene at around 1pm on Tuesday (13 May). The coach had been travelling on the A387 from the Plymouth direction towards Looe between Sandplace and Widegates when the incident occurred. The campaign sees Stencilled messages sprayed onto the pavement at key spots in Exeter city centre in an attempt to stop aggressive and intimidating begging by highlighting organisations which offer support to rough sleepers.
