A permanent scheme to make Exeter’s Magdalen Road one-way is due to start early next year.

With popular independent shops and restaurants, the road became one-way temporarily in June 2020 to support social distancing and encourage cycling and walking.

And like many of the other one-way road trials along the new E9 cycle route, which connects the Newcourt/Pynes Hill area to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital and city centre, councillors voted to keep the layout in the summer following a public consultation.

Residents across Devon and Somerset are being asked their views on the part of the council tax that covers fire and rescue.

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Authority, which covers fire and rescue services in the two counties, are encouraging residents to complete the annual council tax precept survey .

The survey asks residents to share their views on the service provided by their fire service and the level of precept they would pay to maintain these services.

Exeter’s Local business community has come together to raise a smile for charity.

Ollie Jackson, Josh Butler, Raj Panchal and Andi Davies want to do something special for Children’s Hospice South West.

Funny business takes place at The Terrace in Exeter’s Queen Street Dinning on Thursday, October 13th from 18:30 in celebration of Children’s Hospice South West.

Royal Clarence Hotel could be turned into luxury flats

Exeter’s historic Royal Clarence Hotel, destroyed in a fire six years ago, could finally be restored and turned into luxury flats.

The city council’s planning committee will consider the plans at a meeting next week, with officers recommending approval.

The iconic Grade II listed building, which dates back to 1769 and overlooks Exeter Cathedral, was ravaged by the blaze in October 2016 that started in neighbouring buildings and spread to the hotel.

Works for a new mixed-use development in Cranbrook, Exeter have commenced and were marked with an official ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday 29th September.
