Local volunteering opportunities will be showcased at Exeter’s biggest volunteer fayre on Thursday, 29 September.
The fayre, which takes place at Exeter Central library between 10.30 – 2.30pm, is being organised by Exeter Connect, a voluntary and community sector support service which provides free advice, training, networks and events to help community groups in Exeter develop and grow.
Over 20 organisations will exhibit at the fayre, including Hospital Radio Exeter, Cygnet Theatre and Marie Curie.

RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter is the latest charity in Devon to sign up to The Charity Shop Gift Card - the first multi-retailer gift card that can be used exclusively in charity shops.
The charity's shops in Bideford, Brixham, Budleigh Salterton, Exter and Newton Abbot raise money to help Devon’s animals in need. To coincide with Second-Hand September , it joins Hospiscare and national charities, Marie Curie, The Children’s Society and YMCA in accepting the card in the county.

Almost £290,000 will be spent on turning Exeter’s former Northbook golf course into a wildlife haven.
The city council’s executive agreed to allocate the money at its meeting this week, with £222,000 coming from developer contributions and the remainder from partners.

Crowds, including scores of invited dignitaries, gathered in the grounds of Devon County Council’s County Hall in Exeter this afternoon to hear the High Sheriff of Devon, Richard Youngman, officially read the Proclamation confirming King Charles III as monarch.
It follows the principle Proclamation made yesterday, (Saturday 10 September), at St James’s Place, Westminster, where the Clerk to the Privy Council, Richard Tilbrook proclaimed Charles “King, head of the Commonwealth, defender of the faith", before declaring "God Save the King".
His Majesty The King will be proclaimed at the Accession Council on Saturday 10 September at St James’s Palace in London and the Proclamation will be read at 11am.
The following day, Sunday 11 September, the Proclamation will be read out at 1pm at County Hall in Exeter by the High Sheriff of Devon, with civic leaders from Devon in attendance.
