Premier Communication Electronics (PCE) has moved into new premises in Exeter to accommodate its business growth.

The much larger 0.8-acre site in Bittern Road is a short journey from the two-way radio and in-vehicle communications specialist’s former premises in Osprey Road, also on the Sowton Industrial Estate. The company move into its new premises yesterday, 2015.

Frontman and songwriter for the three-piece alternative rock band I Am Kloot, John Bramwell – formerly known as Johnny Dangerously – will have two gigs in Devon.

I Am Kloot were shortlisted for the Mercury Prize in 2010 for their album Sky at Night, but it’s not the only time John received heady praise for his work. The Guardian called his 1989 mini-album You, Me and the Alarm Clock ‘one of the greatest albums you’ve never heard’.

New snow warning issued for Devon

The Met Office has issued a fresh weather warning as heavy snow is forecast to hit Devon this weekend, with “blizzard conditions” predicted in parts of the region.

The warning is valid for the whole of Sunday and Monday.

Forecasters say further snow showers will affect parts of Scotland and Northern Ireland on Sunday leading to some locally large accumulations and the showers may spread along eastern and western coasts of England and Wales.

A la Ronde reopens for 2015

Staff and volunteers at A la Ronde, the quirky sixteen-sided house near Exmouth, are delighted to announce that they will be reopening for the 2015 season on Saturday 31 January.

On that day, visitors can join the Mayor and Town Crier of Exmouth for the grand opening; and they will also be entered into a free prize draw to win a cream tea in A la Ronde’s tea room.

The house opens every day from 11am until 4pm and there will be guided tours every 20 minutes from Monday to Friday up until February half term. During weekends and after February half term, the house will be open...

Ponies on gardening duty at Killerton

This week a herd of 10 Dartmoor ponies took up temporary residence on an extinct volcano at Killerton estate near Exeter.

Dolbury Hill is the tree-lined backdrop to Killerton House, known locally as ‘The Clump’, which is steeped in 3,000 years of history.

Two killed in separate lorry crashes... commuters faced huge delays

Two people have been killed in accidents with lorries on Devon roads.

In Exeter, an 80-year-old man from Broadclyst died following a collision with a lorry on the outskirts of Exeter.

Police and paramedics were called to Exhibition Way, Pinhoe at 2.30pm yesterday (27 January) after reports that a pedestrian was seriously injured.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene and his family have been informed.

Sandy Park to host European 7s

Exeter’s Sandy Park is to host the third leg of Rugby Europe’s 2015 Grand PRIX 7s series, it has been announced.

This will take place over the weekend of 11 and 12 July.

Council Leader Pete Edwards welcomed the news.

He said: “This is another fantastic boost for Sandy Park and the city of Exeter and will serve as an appetizer for the Rugby World Cup 2015 a couple of months afterwards.

"To have two major sporting events on our doorstep within weeks is a major coup for city and the eyes of the world will surely be on Exeter this year.”

Police confirm Exeter crash victim was 80-year-old man from Broadclyst

Police have confirmed that the pedestrian who died after being hit by a lorry in Pinhoe yesterday afternoon is an 80-year-old man from Broadclyst.

Police officers and paramedics, were called to Exhibition Way, Pinhoe at 2.30pm today, 27th January, after reports that a pedestrian was seriously injured.

The pensioner was pronounced dead at the scene. His family have been informed.

The heavy goods vehicle did not stop at the scene, but was located a short while later at Cullompton.
