Weather warning of ice for parts of Devon

The Met Office has issued a weather warning as ice is expected to cause disruption to some parts of the region.

The warning is valid until 10am tomorrow (Tuesday) and motorists are warned to take extra care as driving conditions could be tricky.

The Exeter-based agency’s chief forecaster said: “Wintry showers look like lasting a few hours yet, as for example across parts of south west Wales at present, where inland areas are still seeing some snowfall.

'Leg Party' raises funds for Exeter hospital

Patient Debbie Northway has raised over £200 as a thank you for the care she received at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital by holding a ‘Leg Party’.

Just over a year ago Debbie lost her leg above the knee and has since been attending the Exeter Mobility Centre for prosthetic and physiotherapy appointments.

She recently celebrated having her new prosthetic leg by throwing a ‘Leg Party’ for friends and family where she raised £105 for Exeter Mobility Centre and £105 for Otter Ward to say thank you to the staff who cared for her.

Did you witness fatal crash near Devon theme park?

Police are appealing for witnesses to a three-vehicle collision in Totnes at the weekend in which a man died.

The fatal collision happened shortly after 11.35am on Saturday 31 January on the A3122 at Blackawton, near the Woodlands junction.

As a result of the collision a 21-year-old man, who was driving a green Volkswagen Polo, was flown to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance but later died as a result of his injuries.

He has been formally identified as Daniel John Foale from the Kingsbridge area. His family have been informed.

Thousands call charity for cancer help

A total of 4,248 people in the South West phoned Macmillan Cancer Support during 2014 seeking help.

New figures from the charity show how many people contacted the Macmillan Support Line during the past 12 months. In Devon, there were 551 callers - of these, 73% of requests were for clinical information and emotional support while the remaining 27% was for welfare or financial guidance queries.
