Changes to Stagecoach bus services in Devon

Stagecoach South West announced today that, starting 29 May, there will be a number of changes to bus routes on its Torbay network, including faster journey times, more connections and new destinations.

The Hop11 will be merged into the 22, which will be rebranded Hop22. From Monday to Saturday, buses will continue to run across Torbay up to every 20 minutes with one bus an hour extending to Shaldon, Teignmouth, Dawlish and Dawlish Warren. Tributes to driver killed in A38 crash

Following formal identification, the lorry driver who died as a result of the collision which closed the A38 near Exeter on Saturday morning (9th April) has been named as Andrew Small, 32, from Torquay.

His family have paid tribute to him:

Recycle trash and earn some cash!

With just 30 per cent of all “small” electrical goods recycled in the UK, Devon County Council are acting to improve this figure as they introduce a new scheme which could reward those who choose to recycle their electronic goods.

Devon and Torbay councils have teamed up with four local waste management companies, and have been awarded funding for prize draws which will take place on 11th, 18th, 25th April and 5th May.

In each draw Devon and Torbay residents have the opportunity to win one cash prize of £200 and five cash prizes of £25.

As 2016 gets underway, a local fundraiser is sending out a message of thanks to all who raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support last year.

Bridget Hill, Macmillan Fundraising Manager for South, Mid and East Devon said: "Because of all your support, in 2015 Macmillan was able to commit £310,686 in Devon, helping to support over 35,000 people living with or beyond cancer locally. Devon and Cornwall Police are searching for 25-year-old Rose Polge who has been missing from Torquay since Friday.

Rose is described as white, 5 feet 2 inches tall with brown eyes, and long black hair either worn down or in a pony tail.

Since Ms Polge’s car was found in Ansteys Cove just after 6pm on Friday, officers from in and around the Torbay area have been involved in searches to locate her, as have the coastguard, RNLI and Dartmoor search and rescue.

Police are concerned for the welfare of 20-year-old Kaya Kelly, who is missing from the Haytor Unit, Torbay District Hospital, Torquay, Devon.

Kaya is described as slim with shoulder length dark brown which can be tied in a pony tail. Last seen wearing a white fluffy top with bits of red, black jeans, white pumps and carrying a handbag.

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman and child were seriously injured following a road traffic collision in Torquay at the weekend.

The collision happened shortly before 1.20pm on Sunday 22 November 2015 near the junction of Torbay Road and Sea Way Lane.

A group of five pedestrians, two adults and three children, were walking along Torbay Road when a silver Daihatsu Sirion mounted the pavement and collided with a six-year-old girl and her 35-year-old mother.
