Summer sunshine schedule takes off at Exeter Airport

Exeter Airport celebrates the take-off of its sunshine summer schedule today (25th March) with the start of flights to Paphos in Cyprus, and just in time for the Easter holidays.

TUI’s weekly Saturday service is among 26 destinations in nine countries on offer from Exeter Airport in 2023/4 as it gears up for a busy summer ahead.

TUI has 12 destinations from Exeter this year with summer flights to Greece, Spain and Turkey, in addition to its year-round flights to Lanzarote.

Ryanair meanwhile will be launching a brand-new service to Faro on the Portuguese Algarve...

Barbecues banned on Dartmoor to cut risk of wildfire

Dartmoor National Park Authority has today introduced a temporary ban on open fires and barbecues on all common land within the National Park. The ban has been introduced in response to the prolonged dry weather and the risk wildfires can pose to people and animals, as well as damage to property and the natural environment. People who plan to spend time in the National Park are urged to be extremely vigilant to the increased risk of fires. Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together on July 30th at Cumberland Grange Care Home in Exeter to enjoy a Charity Summer Fete held in the home’s grounds to help raise money for the RD&E Hospital Charity – The Starfish Appeal.

Council announces even more free holiday activities and meals for this Summer

Children from across Devon aged 5 to 16, who are eligible for benefit-related free school meals, are invited to take up an action-packed Summer holiday this year, as part of Devon County Council’s government-funded Holiday Activities and Food programme.

As temperatures soar, the RSPCA is providing advice to pet-owners on how to keep their animals cool and to make sure they are doing everything possible to keep them safe this summer.

The RSPCA’s animal centres have planned ahead for the heatwave by following the charity’s own advice on caring for animals in hot weather .

The Bats in Churches project is appealing for volunteers in Devon to come forward and help with the final year of the National Bats in Churches Survey, an ambitious citizen science project to discover more about how and why bats are using churches.
