Successful year of sport for Exeter School

As the end of term draws near, Exeter School is celebrating an academic year of sporting success.

It was an exciting season of great hockey, during which the boys' hockey teams were crowned U13, U16 and U18 Devon Champions and U14 runners up and the girls' hockey teams were named U16 and U18 Devon Champions and U14 Devon runners up.

The Spring term began with both U18 boys' and girls' hockey teams taking part in the National Indoor Hockey Finals.

Fun footie festival in Exeter

Teams of young footballers from Exeter and the surrounding areas are invited to take part in a special Summer event, hosted by Devon Football Association.

The Mini Football Festival for Under 9 and Under 10s is sponsored by Fresha Café - and will take place at St Luke’s School in Exeter on Sunday, June 28. All matches will be played on astro turf.

Organiser Matt Eddy said: “This is a great chance for teams to get their football fix outside of the main season.

“It’s also an opportunity to play teams that they might not normally go up against.”

Enjoy an evening of racing at Newton Abbot

Join Newton Abbot Racecourse for an evening of racing and break up the working week on Wednesday 27th May.

Racing starts at 18:00, with gates opening at 16:00. The last race is at 21:00.

YMCA Exeter residents sign for Bristol City

Three men from YMCA Exeter have completed the Homeless FA training Centre programme at Bristol City Football. Nathan Tuley (22), John Oliver (20) and Rhys Feeney (19) found out about the Training Centre programme through YMCA Exeter, who provide Supported Accommodation for young homeless people.

The 6-day programme takes place over six weeks during April and May and are run in partnership with professional football clubs across England. They are a great experience for all players, regardless of footballing ability, with every participant achieving an accredited leadership...

Devon Sports Awards finalists announced

The finalists for the prestigious 2015 Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards have been announced.

The Awards, which are being held at Exeter venue Sandy Park on the 8th May, attracted a record number of nominations from sports varying from archery, athletics and Tae Kwon-do to sailing, skateboarding and table tennis.

The judging panel, coordinated by Active Devon, who are overseeing the Awards together with the Exeter Foundation, have narrowed the nominations down to 26 finalists in seven categories from an extremely strong pool of entries.
