Devon Sports Awards finalists announced

The finalists for the prestigious 2015 Exeter Foundation Devon Sports Awards have been announced.

The Awards, which are being held at Exeter venue Sandy Park on the 8th May, attracted a record number of nominations from sports varying from archery, athletics and Tae Kwon-do to sailing, skateboarding and table tennis.

The judging panel, coordinated by Active Devon, who are overseeing the Awards together with the Exeter Foundation, have narrowed the nominations down to 26 finalists in seven categories from an extremely strong pool of entries.

Spitfires start training for new season

The Exeter Spitfires are beginning the preparations for their third season in the South West Baseball League with the start of indoor winter training.

Training will take place on Friday evenings from 7pm at West Exe School, Hatherleigh Road, Exeter, starting on 16th January and will continue into March.

Players, old and new and of all abilities are welcome to come along. Sessions will cost £4 for up to two hours and all equipment is provided, along with coaching from a number of qualified coaches.

Ability Games brings sport and inclusion together

The Devon Autumn Ability Games (DAAG) take place on Wednesday 12 November, at the Tarka Tennis Centre in Barnstaple and will provide the opportunity for young disabled people from schools throughout Devon to participate in competitions spanning five different sports.

The event is part of the Sainsbury’s School Games and over 350 participants are set to take part in a variety of different competitions and taster sports. The young people from local schools and colleges will also be crucial in organising the event on the day as over 70 of them have been recruited as Games Maker style...

Residents of the parish of Ottery St Mary are being invited by EDDC and Ottery St Mary Town Council to vote for how they would spend £17,300 available for sports provision.

The projects that get the most votes will be delivered and the good news is you don't have to be 18 to vote, as kids get a vote too!

Local and regional sports leaders will join college governors, staff, civic leaders, local sports partnerships and students to celebrate the official opening of Exeter College's £1.4 million Exwick Sports hub on Thursday (16 October), the latest phase of the college’s £14 million sports investment programme.

Exmouth Town win rearranged friendly

Town followed up a respectable league draw against Launceston on Saturday with a clinical win in this midweek friendly against lower division opponents.
