Greg Hancock, Em Marshall and Ben Morgan-Brown are all Devon-based singer songwriters, each with a unique style and very different influences. And they are good friends. Greg and Ben first met doing open mics in and around the Exeter area. Ben also used to work in a guitar shop which is where he met Em Marshall, as a customer. It was later that he found out that Em was the partner of Tim Jones who he now writes and performs with. Exeter singer/songwriter Charlotte Ward is celebrating after reaching the national finals of the prestigious talent competition Open Mic UK.

Charlotte, 15, performed one of her original songs, Lies, taken from her first EP “Can I get a word in?” at the area heats in Fareham to win her place in the Open Mic UK Final at the NEC Birmingham in January. “I can’t believe it! Over 10,000 people entered the competition and I’m in the final 25 under-16s. It’s taking a while to sink in," she said.

Local singer/songwriter, Charlotte Ward from Ide, near Exeter will take the stage on Sunday evening in her debut performance at Mama Stones, Exeter’s coolest live music venue.

14-year-old Charlotte is set to entertain with a mix of original songs and chart covers on keys and guitar. Charlotte’s style, velvety tones and amazing range belie her age and as a result she is through to the national heats of the UK’s newest talent competition, Teen Star.
