Taking Shape, a formally Australian and New Zealand based company which offers colourful styles for ladies in sizes 14-26, has opened a brand new store in Exeter today.

To mark the occasion the store offered its new customers free fizz and cake.

Area Manager Rachel Paterson believes Taking Shape will offer something truly unique to the people of Exeter. She said:

“A lot of the clothing options out there for curvy ladies are plain black and boring. One of the biggest pieces of feedback we have is how much colour we have and the feminine and beautiful options we offer...

In August 2013, Furniture Village turns 24 and, in order to celebrate, the UK’s largest independent retailer of its type is commemorating another significant event from 1989 – the invention of the text message. To mark its birthday, Furniture Village is launching a search for each county’s earliest recorded text sent by a member of the Great British public.

The Furniture Village branch in Exeter is calling on the public to search attics, drawers and shoe boxes to dig-out old mobile phones, power them up once more, and find the region’s earliest recorded text. If a person thinks...

The Quay has a whole host of activities on offer for both tourists and locals alike. It offers food and drink to those who fancy a relaxed break from the daily grind, a delightful range of independent shops for those looking for a bit of retail therapy, and it also offers activities such as bike riding and boat trips for those who like to be active and on the go, not to mention the fantastic facilities on offer at Devon's new world class outdoor education centre opened by HRH The Earl of Wessex and Clip'n'Climb centre.

With all The Quay has to offer, why is it that shopkeepers feel...

The Exeter Daily wants YOUR summer photographs... before it's too late

Just last month Brits were flocking to the travel agents in a last ditched attempt to get some sun.

Throughout our supposed summer England had seen nothing but rain and grey skies.

However, for the last few weeks we have been experiencing a heat wave, and on 7 July, Exeter experienced temperatures similar to those in Turkey.

'The Guardian' reported at the beginning of the month that the rise in temperature has seen a rise in retail sales. Playsuits, shorts and bikinis are finally being sold after sitting on the shelves during the previous cold months....

Empty Shops or Golden Opportunity?

With the trend of pop-up shops happening throughout the country the question of what happens regarding business rates crops up. Where landlords are being flexible with their rents, what's happening with the councils and the government regarding business rates?

The Government 'Startup Britain' scheme has been launched in partnership with such businesses as John Lewis, Sainsbury's and BT giving new British brands the opportunity to get their products onto the British High Street normally for two weeks at a time, rotating small enterprises who have registered an interest www....

Internet Only or Hands on Shopping Experience?

How about both! With the closure of many shops on the high streets around Britain today, you’d be forgiven for thinking that businesses are abandoning the high street in their droves to concentrate on internet sales.

Well we learnt today of two businesses that started off as internet only catalogue businesses, which have now built their presence in shops as well as retaining their internet offering.

Screw Fix builders merchants were finding that their 24-hour delivery turnround was just not quick enough for their customers, so they built their first store in Bristol and...
