Just last month Brits were flocking to the travel agents in a last ditched attempt to get some sun.

Throughout our supposed summer England had seen nothing but rain and grey skies.

However, for the last few weeks we have been experiencing a heat wave, and on 7 July, Exeter experienced temperatures similar to those in Turkey.

'The Guardian' reported at the beginning of the month that the rise in temperature has seen a rise in retail sales. Playsuits, shorts and bikinis are finally being sold after sitting on the shelves during the previous cold months.

Nevertheless, an increase in clothes sales is not all the hot weather has brought with it.

Millions of have gone online to upload pictures of the beautiful weather they are experiencing.

Several postcard-worthy pictures of the Haytor rocks in Dartmoor and the sandy beach of Torquay have been sent to The Exeter Daily.

Locals have been making the most of their home towns being sought-after destinations to visit. Finally we have not had to splash out on a Caribbean holiday to get some pictures worthy of the Green-eyed monster.

Still, weather reports reveal our sustained spell of Mediterranean-style weather could soon be over.

The Met Office has even gone as far as to issue weather warnings, with storms and heavy rain set to take place on Thursday.

Here at The Exeter Daily we are urging you to get those last minute sunny photographs to us.

We don’t care if you are just in the back garden reading the paper, send us your images.

After all, without photographic evidence, we might forget we have had a summer once the rain comes!
