First pitch-level view of new Chiefs grandstand

This is the view Exeter Chiefs players will get of their new grandstand when they run out for their first game at Sandy Park against Leicester Chiefs on September 13.

Work has been continuing apace throughout the summer forcing the team to play all of their friendlies away from home.

But as our pictures show, everything is now falling into place.

The main part of the works have seen the West Grandstand undergo a £7.5 million transformation, doubling its capacity for usage on both match-days and events throughout the course of the week.

Fans are used to seeing Chiefs players tearing up the pitch - but nothing quite like this.

Contractors have removed the hallowed turf to make way for something completely new.

And Tony Rowe OBE says multi-million pound redevelopment works at Sandy Park are "progressing nicely" as work on and off the field continues to gain momentum.

£7m shopping centre plans go on show

Members of the public will be able to see at first hand Aviva Investors’ £7 million plans for the remodelling of the Guildhall Shopping Centre in Exeter at an event to be held on Tuesday 21 January.

The event will take place between 11am and 4pm at Unit 13 in the Centre’s Market Arcade and will feature a display showing architect’s drawings, CGIs and artist’s impressions. It will also include details about the thought processes behind the designs, the materials to be used and the timescales involved in the project.

Dawlish Strand regeneration taking shape

Work is progressing well on the £1.5 million regeneration of Dawlish Strand.

The scheme, which is a joint initiative between Devon County , Teignbridge District and Dawlish Town Councils , is taking shape, with the removal of the wall, shelter and large shrubs visually opening The Lawns up to The Strand.

Large sections of the Yorkstone paving and granite kerbs have been laid along The Lawns side, together with the installation of new Granite kerbs and drainage.
