Quarter ton sea shell returned to Hartlepool

What a difference 100 years can make. A massive explosive shell that contributed to death and destruction in 1914 Hartlepool has returned in a piano removal van and welcomed with a civic reception.

It failed to explode and was sent to Exeter’s Royal Albert Memorial Museum for display.
