The work of one of the artists featured in last year’s Local Art Show has been selected for an exhibition at the Mall Galleries in Central London and is in the running for the £30,000 Threadneedle Prize.
A book of etchings by Christow-based artist Jude Freeman was selected from over three and a half thousand works; several of the etchings were first displayed at The Royal Albert Memorial Musuem.
The exhibition runs from Wednesday 25 September to Saturday 12 October 2013, the shortlist for the award will be announced on Thursday 15 August and the winner announced on Tuesday...
RAMM has launched a new web app linking the stunning paintings of the Dartmoor landscape by FJ Widgery with the scenes that they portray. Many of these paintings can be seen in the current exhibition Masters of the Moor.
The app will help smartphone and tablet users explore the moor, find the scenes portrayed in the paintings and share their thoughts and images of Dartmoor through Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Funded by Arts Council England, the app is web based so there’s no need to download it....

Bees are essential to us all but they are in trouble. Meet local beekeeper Rob Paskell for an introduction to beekeeping and bee-haviour. Rob is a member of the British Beekeepers Association.
Pots are some of the most important remnants of ancient cultures but continue to be vital today. Look at some old ones, handle some replicas and make some new ones. All children under 8 must be accompanied by an adult. Some activities are messy so do wear clothes that can get dirty.
