Police are appealing for witnesses after a cyclist was found with serious head injuries on Dartmoor on Wednesday 26 August.

The 68-year-old cyclist was found at 4.50pm lying unconscious on the B3212 between Postbridge and Moretonhampstead.

He had sustained a serious head injury, considered life-changing, and was airlifted to Derriford Hospital by air ambulance. He remains in hospital in a serious condition.

The man, from Essex, appears to have been cycling alone between Postbridge and Moretonhampstead.

Two Devon criminals who ignored confiscation orders given as part of their sentences can now look forward to a longer spell in prison.

Paul Cartmell, 50, of Barrington Street, Tiverton, was given a two year custodial sentence, suspended for two years in March this year at Exeter Crown Court for possession with intent to supply heroin.

A confiscation order for £13,750 was imposed by the judge following work from Devon and Cornwall Police Financial Investigation Unit. Cartmell failed to satisfy the order and has now been sentenced to an additional 244 days in prison.

A new research project will unite police and researchers to increase evidence-based knowledge, skills and problem solving approaches within policing.

The University of Exeter has secured nearly £250,000 from the Police Knowledge fund to foster stronger collaboration between the police force and researchers, and ensure practices are rooted in the best evidence of what is effective.

Missing Exeter man found safe and well

Police have found Steven Brannick, reported missing on Monday.

He was found safe and well in Exeter on Wednesdsay evening (19 August).

The 48-year-old was last seen leaving his home in the Countess Wear area at 3pm on Monday 17 August and police were concerned for his welfare as the disappearance is totally out-of-character.

Police would like to thank the public for their assistance.

Two more arrested over Cowick Street assault

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Exeter are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A 21-year-old local man was found unconscious in the road in Cowick Street, St Thomas, shortly before 4.20am on Saturday 8 August. He had suffered serious head and neck injuries.

Officers believe he had been the victim of an assault at the junction of Cowick Street and Old Vicarage Road before being struck by a car, driven by a 37-year-old man from the Exeter area. The collision is believed to be unrelated to the assault.

Police are appealing for the public’s help to trace a 32-year-old man from Exeter who is wanted for recall to prison after breaching his prison license conditions.

Shay Scales (pictured) was originally charged with theft and imprisoned earlier this year but has failed to comply with conditions of his prison release license as part of his probation.

Numerous enquiries have been made by police to try and locate him.

Police are asking the public for information about his whereabouts and to report any sightings to them.

Police in Honiton are appealing for information following two burglaries in the Town.

Two burglaries took place at static homes located on Otter Valley Park in Honiton, sometime between 1pm on Friday 6 August and 8am on Saturday 7 August.

Both properties were entered by forcing a door and once inside and following an untidy search items of property, many valued at thousands of pounds and of sentimental value were stolen.

Police have released two new images of 48-year-old Jayne Brocklehurst from Budleigh Salterton who has been missing since Saturday 8th August.

Jayne was last seen on Saturday evening at her family’s flat on Budleigh Salterton and is described as being a medium build and has mousey brown shoulder length hair.
