A building at the heart of Devon and Cornwall police headquarters is being named in honour of much loved Falmouth PC Andy Hocking. Thousands of local people paraded through the town as a mark of respect when Andy died suddenly in March 2015. He was just 52. His impact on the local community was immense, and he epitomised everything that is good about neighbourhood policing. Home Secretary strengthens police response to modern slavery

Police and Crime Commissioner Alison Hernandez and Chief Constable Shaun Sawyer, the National Police Chiefs' Council Lead on Modern Slavery, have welcomed today’s news that the Home Secretary is backing their bid for extra resources to tackle modern slavery. Amber Rudd has announced that the Government is giving an extra £8.5 million nationally to help police fight this crime. This new response, led by Devon and Cornwall, will provide over 50 dedicated analysts, specialists and investigators. Ram-raid burglary at Banbury's in Tiverton

Police were called following reports of the alarms going off at the Banburys Store in Gold Street, Tiverton, at around 4.15am today (18 October).

It appears that a saloon-type car was used to force the doors to gain access to the store. People wearing balaclavas managed to steal vast quantities of perfume before fleeing the area in the same vehicle up Bampton Street.

Police are appealing for witnesses and would also like to hear from anyone who has come across any discarded items in the area including perfume and balaclavas, or who have been offered any perfume for sale....

Police are appealing for witnesses following a road traffic collision that has left two dead and a further two in hospital.

Emergency services were called following reports of a collision on the A358 Chard Road near Tytherleigh, just outside Axminster at 3.30pm on Monday 17th October.

The collision involved a Citroën Xsara Picasso and a Ford Transit Luton van; the Citroën was heading towards Axminster and the Ford Transit was heading in the opposite direction.

Heroin, crack and cash seized in Exeter

Three men have been arrested and drugs and cash seized following a warrant being executed at an address in Exeter.

On Monday the 10th of October, officers from the neighbourhood policing team and drug enforcement officers executed a misuse of drugs act warrant at an address in Longbrooke Terrace, Exeter.

Three men aged 21, 19, and 18, all from London were arrested.

Police warning over fake £50 notes

Police are advising shopkeepers and business owners in South Devon to be on their guard after several instances of fake Bank of England £50 notes being passed have been reported in Newton Abbot.

So far two different serial numbers have been identified as being linked to these counterfeit £50 notes: HK10 234322 and BC02 245667. Serial numbers on genuine banknotes are unique, so if you have a note carrying this number it is liable to be counterfeit. There may be other serial numbers linked to the batch of counterfeit notes.

Police in Exeter have released the image of a man they wish to identify as they believe he may have witnessed a crime in the City Centre.

Detective Constable Mark Nagle, said: “Just after midnight on Friday the 16th of September, we responded to reports of two men on bicycles in Bampfylde Street in Princesshay, Exeter acting in a threatening manner.

Appeal after boy punched and threatened with knife in Exeter

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious assault on a 17-year-old boy on Flower Pot Lane, Exeter.

The assault happened on Thursday 22 September 2016 between 6 and 630pm.

The male offender allegedly punched the 17-year-old victim several times and then threatened him with a knife which he was wielding at the time.

Motorcyclist dies following collision with car

A motorcyclist has died following a serious collision in Newton Abbot on Thursdsay (22 September).

Emergency services were called to Shaldon Road at 2.10pm after the collision between a red Mercedes B180 and the black Yamaha V-Max motorcycle outside Milber Service Station.

The motorcycle rider, a 53-year-old man from Torquay, sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Torbay Hospital. He died from his injuries in the early hours of today [23 September].

Devon and Cornwall Police have launched Youth Week - a dedicated week of action aimed at tackling some of the issues young people encounter.
