Work will start soon on building a fabulous new £90,000 skate park in Honiton – designed by the users. The existing park will close on 17 February for around 10 weeks while the work is carried out.

East Devon District Council (EDDC), and young people from Honiton Youth Centre and Honiton Community College have been working together since July 2013 to design the improvements to the facility in Allhallows Field that skate park users have asked for.

Members of the public will be able to see at first hand Aviva Investors’ £7 million plans for the remodelling of the Guildhall Shopping Centre in Exeter at an event to be held on Tuesday 21 January.

The event will take place between 11am and 4pm at Unit 13 in the Centre’s Market Arcade and will feature a display showing architect’s drawings, CGIs and artist’s impressions. It will also include details about the thought processes behind the designs, the materials to be used and the timescales involved in the project.

Plans revealed for Devon’s dementia care Centres of Excellence

Families of residents at a Devon care home have welcomed new plans to tranform the home into a new dementia care Centre of Excellence.

Plans for the first two of Devon County Council's Centres of Excellence, at Mapleton in Newton Abbot and Woodland Vale in Torrington, go on show this week.

Open days at the homes are giving residents, their families, as well as staff and others, the first opportunity to see the plans.

Sandy Park development plans approved by ECC

Exeter City Council last night voted unanimously in favour of the plans put forward to develop Sandy Park, the home of the Exeter Chiefs Rugby club. The Premiership side submitted ambitious plans earlier this year that would see the stadium's capacity increase from 10,750 to 20,600 and the club's conference and banqueting facilities also expanded.
