Full Council today approved a major investment package for Market Walk Shopping Centre, Newton Abbot.
Councillors unanimously supported the £2million upgrade scheme which will modernise the centre and create an open airy and spacious place to visit and shop. Positioned by places of historical interest at St. Leonards Tower, one of Newton Abbot’s most recognisable landmarks, Passmore Edwards Library and Courtenay Park, opposite the town’s railway station, the three heritage posts came about through a partnership between Teignbridge District Council, Newton Abbot Town Council and Newton Abbot Museum.

The family of Leah Kerry, the 15-year-old girl who died in a drug related death in Newton Abbot on the 15th July, have paid a touching tribute to their daughter.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a Devon teenager in the early hours of Saturday morning.
Police were informed by an ambulance crew at around 4:50am on Saturday 15th July that they had taken a 15-year-old girl to Torbay District Hospital who was unconscious after taking an unknown substance.
Police attended both the hospital and Bakers Park in Newton Abbot which was where the teenager in question was located. Sadly, the girl later died at hospital. Her next of kin have been informed and police are supporting the family.
