Newton Abbot Racecourse can reveal that singer and television presenter Alesha Dixon will be Boyzone’s Special Guest at their headline show at Newton Abbot Racecourse on Sunday June 28.

The concert, which is confirmed to be Boyzone’s only South West tour date, will take place on Sunday June 28.

2015 is shaping up to be another great year for Britain’s Got Talent judge Alesha Dixon. She is presently a TV judge on Britain’s Got Talent which is in its ninth series, now airing.

On Tuesday 5th May, fundraiser and 53-year-old father of four, Richard Farquhar, will arrive at Exeter Racecourse’s race meeting having walked all the way there from Taunton Racecourse. Two days later, Farquhar will walk on to Newton Abbot Racecourse - a hop, a skip and a jump, in comparison - arriving at the race meeting on Thursday 7th May. These two walks are the next stages of his 2,750 mile journey to connect all of mainland Britain’s racecourses in an epic fundraising venture called Walking The Courses. Police have issued a CCTV image of a woman they wish to speak to in connection with a theft.

Almost £4,000 was taken when a 91 year-old woman had her cash card stolen.

The card was used to withdraw money between 27 January 2015 and 26 February 2015 from the Barclays cash point in Newton Abbot.

The suspect is described as a white woman, aged 40-50, approximately 5’ 6” in height and having auburn coloured, bobbed hair. On occasions she wore a red, half -length padded jacket with a black fur collar, and black boots. She can be seen carrying an over the shoulder satchel...

Newton Abbot set for second evening fixture

It’s the second evening meeting of the summer at Newton Abbot on Thursday 30th April with the first race, the Newtonabbotrace On Twitter Maiden Hurdle, due off at 16.45.

‘Ringing the changes’ scam warning

Police are issuing a warning to businesses following reports of a ‘ringing the changes’ scam operating across Devon and Cornwall.

Two men entered convenience stores in Newton Abbot, Saltash and Redruth, and a restaurant in Falmouth, where they confused the shop assistant by asking to change various amounts of money.

While the staff were distracted, they managed to steal £410 in total.

Officers believe it is the same two men responsible for all four offences that happened on Monday 13 April and Tuesday 14 April.

Overnight closures on the A38 at Heathfield are due to start from the evening of Monday 27 April to enable a new bridge to be lifted into place. Work has been progressing well on the scheme during the winter - piling work and foundations of the structure will be completed shortly, and the 38 metre main span, along with the east side approach ramps, will now be craned into position during the overnight closures. A 500 tonne crane will be located on the southbound carriageway to carry out the lift. It is anticipated that four nights are required to complete the work, but five evening...

CCTV appeal after Newton Abbot assault

Detectives investigating a serious assault in Newton Abbot have released CCTV images of three men they would like to speak to in connection with the incident.

A 46-year-old local man suffered serious head and facial injuries as a result of an unprovoked attack on Sherborne Road on Saturday 4 April at around 9.10pm.

The victim was hit in the face by a group of men and fell to the floor near the taxi rank between Courtenay Street and Sherborne Road.

He was taken by ambulance to Derriford hospital where he received medical treatment before being discharged a few days...

Officers are appealing for witnesses to a collision at a supermarket car park in Newton Abbot on Friday 17 April.

Shortly after 10.30am police were notified by the ambulance service of a minor collision at Asda, Highweek Street.

A 74-year-old local woman driving a black BMW 318 was involved in a collision with a parked and unattended Seat Leon.

The female driver of the BMW appears to have been taken unwell at the wheel and was taken to hospital for treatment.

She was released from hospital on 18 April but died shortly after being released.

Serious collision leaves five injured

Emergency services are currently at the scene of a serious collision in Ipplepen, Devon, which has left five people injured.

Police, fire and ambulance crews and the air ambulance were called to the collision between two cars on the A381 Totnes Road at 1pm today (10 April).

The occupants of one car, a woman and two young children, have sustained serious injuries and have been taken to hospital.

One child has been taken by air ambulance to Derriford Hospital and the other child has been taken by ambulance to Torbay District Hospital.
