CPRE Devon leads the way on litter picking

Members of CPRE Devon have taken part in two litter picks in the county during which they collected almost thirty bags of discarded waste.

The Devon branch of the countryside charity CPRE led two litter picks in September - one in Exeter and one in Teignbridge - as part of a national CPRE Green Clean Month.

WALKERS, hikers, climbers and families from Devon are being asked to come out in force to help clear litter and tidy-up at a popular beauty spot near Exeter next month (January 27, 2018).

Taunton Leisure – Exeter, which is on Fore Street in the city, is organising the litter pick at Chudleigh Rocks (south side) on Sunday, January 27 from 10am until 4pm.

Store Manager, Nick Baron, who is a keen climber, explained: “We’re hoping lots of people from the walking, hiking and climbing community join us for this event, as well as families, and anyone who enjoys the great outdoors...

CPRE Devon and Devon Norse join forces to clean up Exeter’s Sowton Estate

A staggering amount of litter was collected in just one hour on Exeter’s Sowton Industrial Estate last Friday in a joint litter-pick by the Devon branch of the Campaign to Protect Rural England and Devon Norse.

Twenty people took part in the clean up in the area around Bittern Road, where Devon Norse is based. Members of CPRE Devon joined company employees and provided them with the necessary gear: litter-picking sticks, high vis jackets, gloves and bags.

Meet outside Sancho's on 117 Fore Street at 11am to stroll down to the Quay, picking up litter along the way.*

After an hour of litter picking along the Quay, we will be encouraging people to bring along their own plastic free picnic, with items that didn't come out of plastic wrapping, e.g. homemade hummus and pitta bread.

Litter picking is fun!

Proof - if proof were needed - that litter picking can be fun, was provided when East Devon District Council organised a day of activities at Heathpark in Honiton last week.

The morning started with a litter picking session around the estate, involving members of the Council’s Tenant and Communities Section along with residents, Police Community Support Officers and representatives from Honiton Community Church. Between them they bagged up several sacks of litter.
