Stagecoach services affected as snow continues to fall

Update: 52A, 52B and 380 are now all able to serve their normal routes.

Stagecoach has announced the following disruptions.

52 service: Due to a police road closure the 52 can now only serve as far as Sidmouth Triangle.

Honiton service 20 is currently suspended due to weather conditions, it cannot serve Seaton or Taunton.

Service 52A can't currently serve Seaton and Service 52B can't currently serve Honiton due to weather conditions. Both services are terminating at Sidford until further notice.

Two attacked in Honiton for being Good Samaritans

Police are investigating an assault in Honiton High Street which left a man and a woman requiring hospital treatment.

The victims, from Honiton, were attacked after they attempted to break up a violent argument between another man and woman.

The arguing pair, plus another woman, assaulted the female victim outside Costa Coffee and the man outside the war memorial.

The 41-year-old man suffered serious injuries including broken ribs and the 40-year-old woman sustained black eyes.

Police appeal after fatal crash on the A30

Police are appealing for witnesses after a 59-year-old man died in a fatal road collision on the A30 at Honiton on Christmas Eve.

At 11.35am officers and emergency services were called to a two-vehicle collision between a car and an HGV at Rawridge Hill.

A silver Ford Focus travelling towards Honition had been in collision with a lorry which was heading towards Somerset.

The driver of the Focus, who was from London but was living with family in the local area, sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.

Tiverton and Honiton MP, Neil Parish, is backing an appeal from Cancer Research UK to save the lives of more cancer patients, as news comes that one in two people will be diagnosed with the disease at some point in their lives.

The new figure was announced on World Cancer Day (February 4) to highlight the urgent need to bolster public health and NHS cancer services so they can cope with a growing and ageing population and the looming demands for better diagnostics, treatments, and earlier diagnosis.

With spring finally pushing through the last remnants of winter, St Paul’s Church in Honiton is set to play host to a Spring Violin Recital on Wednesday 19th March at 7.30pm.

The event, sponsored by Gilbert Stephens Solicitors, will feature Devon violinist Marie Langrishe. Marie is 19 and lives near Honiton. She started learning the violin aged 7, and continued musical studies whilst studying at Maynard School in Exeter, where she led both the school orchestras and the school quartet for a number of years.

Five taken to hospital following house fire in Honiton

Earlier today: At around 7.48am this morning, Friday 5 April, emergency services were called to a reported house fire at a property in Lee Close, Honiton. It has now been confirmed that five people have been taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital following the fire.
