Culm Valley Sports Centre looks fresh and inviting, and the impressive new equipment in the fitness studio now rivals every other facility in the Mid Devon area. The official opening ceremony is on 7 February.

For everyone with a New Year’s resolution to be more active and healthy, make a fresh start by visiting the new facilities at Culm Valley Sports Centre this January. Broadclyst’s new £9,000 outdoor gym is ready to use! East Devon District Council has been working hard with Broadclyst Parish Council to provide residents with the free-to-use outdoor gym that they wanted.

Having an outdoor gym in Broadclyst was proposed and chosen by the local community. Earlier this year Broadclyst Parish Council and EDDC asked community groups and others to put forward their ideas as to how £11,800 of sports funding accumulated from recent local housing developments (Section 106 money) should be spent.

The results are in! A voting event has been held by Broadclyst Parish Council Council for residents of Broadclyst to choose their new free-to-use outdoor gym.

The turnout was impressive, with 72 residents from all age-groups coming along to vote at The Pavilions on the afternoon of Friday 17 October.

Residents got to vote on which one of three designs they wanted installed, the winner with 56% of all votes was a design from Sutcliffe Play. This design features six pieces of equipment that up to ten people can use at once. The result now needs to be ratified by Broadclyst...

East Devon District Council has been working hard with Sidmouth Town Council to provide residents with the free-to-use outdoor gym that they wanted.

There will be a grand opening event on Sunday 2 November from 10.30am to 11.30am. There will be free lessons from a personal trainer on how to get the best out of the new equipment, as well as free circus skills on offer!

Two Exeter parents have joined forces to provide fun and affordable exercise classes for children and adults of all fitness levels.

Members of a local gym teamed up to help Paignton Zoo’s orang utans.

A group from Winners 2000 Fitness in Paignton worked in heavy mud to build a new climbing frame on one of the islands used by the great apes.

Emily Rogers from Paignton Zoo said: “They made light work of the huge task. There were more than twenty large wooden poles that needed erecting on the island and the team worked amazingly well together in very difficult conditions.”

Exeter gym fundraiser for Hospiscare

Exeter Golf and Country Club gym members have raised over £100 for Hospiscare in the first of their year-long programme of fund-raising events.
