Last chance to see (and smell) The Emperor's Perfume

If you have not done so already, make sure you catch one of the last few performances of The Emperor's Perfume , a sensationally smelly theatre production for ages 5+.

The famous Parfumier of the town of Sniffniff creates the best scent in the land. One day the Emperor, hearing of his smelly skills, demands that he create a new perfume, a perfume never smelt before, a perfume fit for a king, or else there will be trouble.

The Parfumier now needs your help to create the perfect pong. Together with his assistant, he needs to mix some special ingredients, and work out which...

Spooky half term deal at Exeter's Tenpin centre

Finding stuff for the kids to do over Halloween can be pretty scary, when all they want to do is dress up like monsters and play practical jokes. It's worth remembering that the more treats you give them, the fewer tricks you can expect in return! So it's the perfect time to treat them to a game of bowling at Tenpin.

The centre is offering a deal of one game of bowling and a burger meal for just £6.99 per junior and £9.99 for adults.

Halloween and half term = fun for everyone

Where oh where did the first half of term go? Half term always catches me by surprise, but thankfully lots of people in Exeter have been busy thinking ahead and planning a host of half term activities to entertain your children and at the same time probably give you a bit of a breather. This coming week is, of course, also Halloween, providing even more opportunities to get active in and around the city.

We will have daily updates next week, but to get the party started, here is a selection of fun things to do during half term and for Halloween.

NEW blog: Diary of a first time father-to-be

In my 48 years on this planet, I have been, amongst other things, a speedway rider, a band member, a journalist and now, I am about to be a Dad. For the first time.

I’ve left it a bit late, I suppose, but there just seemed so many other things to do and kids, I reasoned, would get in the way.

I was the one who tutted loudly when gooey (and baggy) eyed parents had the audacity to bring their newborns onto the plane I was boarding through fear it would ruin the start of my holiday.

I also have to admit to being indifferent to the steady...

The Mysterious Vanishment of Pobby and Dingan

Adapted from the short story, Pobby and Dingan , by Ben Rice, The Mysterious Vanishment of Pobby and Dingan will be coming to the Northcott Theatre this Sunday and is recommended for children of nine and over. The Stage said of it "This Tasmanian writer has a quirky, audacious, wonderfully unfettered way of looking at life'.

The storyline is based around Kellyanne’s best friends, Pobby and Dingan. Her big brother Ashmol hates them. They’re invisible and they make her act weird. Everyone thinks she’s a fruitloop and it’s no fun having a fruitloop for a sister in Lightning Ridge....

Give your toddler a head start in hand hygiene

New research reveals key times to teach your little one simple hand hygiene habits. Insights from new research sponsored by Dettol have found that play time makes up almost half of a toddler's day, with 88% of mothers saying they like to spend that play time in the garden or in a park. With Global Hand Wash Day (15th October) fast approaching, it's important to highlight that hand hygiene is the first-line of defence against germs. So it’s not surprising that almost 75% of mums ensure that their child washes their hands after playing outside, however it means that over a quarter (26%)...
