Countdown to exciting season of horse racing at Newton Abbot

Easter Saturday 15 April marks the start of a thrilling new season as racing returns to Newton Abbot Racecourse following a major winter improvement programme.

The family-favourite Easter Saturday fixture will signal the start of an exciting programme of racing and special events at the newly-improved course in South Devon. Over the five-month winter break, tens of thousands of pounds have been invested in ongoing upgrades to the course.

Study to assess whether Exeter needs new entertainment venue underway

Work to assess the need for a major new entertainment venue in the city is underway.

Exeter City Council has appointed external adviser Fourth Street to carry out a needs assessment for a new 1,000 seat minimum capacity venue.

Fourth Street will analyse current and future demand for different facilities, current provision and potential opportunities and funding.

It will then report back to councillors and the New Entertainment Venue Advisory Group, which was set up by the council to support the review.

The multi award-winning Crealy Adventure Park & Resort in Devon has announced two brand new rides opening during 2017. Wildlife gardening at Cranbrook this weekend

Cranbrook Country Park is hosting a wildlife gardening session this Saturday morning, February 25.

The session will take place between 10am and 12pm; families are invited to take part in building homes for the wildlife in the area.

Children will have the opportunity to create bird feeders for their own gardens and build a safe environment for bees using a baked bean tin and bamboo.

There will also be the chance to help build a bug hotel which is made from leftover materials.
