New homes for Exmouth with priority given to local needs

Work is set to start this autumn to provide 18 much-needed affordable homes in Fore Street, Exmouth.

The owners of the Fore Street site, Eagle One Homes, and Mi-Space, part of Midas Group, are working in partnership with leading housing organisation, DCH (formerly Devon & Cornwall Housing) and are transferring it after initial site preparation works are completed.

Woman in sea rescued by police

A 19-year-old woman was rescued by police officers who waded into the sea in Exmouth at the weekend.

Police were called at 7.30pm on Sunday 6 October by the woman’s friend who was concerned about her walking out to sea.

Two officers from the Force Support Group, based in Exeter, were in the area at the time and rushed to The Esplanade area of the town.

When PC Grahame Bailey and PC Geoff Howell arrived they spoke to the friend who pointed out where she was.

The officers ran in to the sea until they could reach the woman. The pair grabbed her around 50 metres...

Circular walk with East Devon ranger

Starting at A la Ronde, the circular walks take in National Trust’s Lower Halsdon Farm and part of the Exe estuary trail.

It’s a great opportunity to learn more about the farm and wildlife of the area.

The walks are approx 2.5 miles long and take place 10am – 12.30pm and 1pm – 3.30pm. Places are free but numbers are limited so please book in advance by phoning A la Ronde on 01395 265514.

Police in Exmouth seek suspicious man reported to be harassing female students

Police in Exmouth are appealing for information following incidents involving female students being approached by a suspicious man. Both incidents took place on Wednesday 25 September between 8am and 8.15am while they were walking to College. The first incident occurred at around 8am in an alleyway near to Scott Drive when two girls were approached by a man who made comments to them before walking away. A short time later at around 8.15am another female student was walking in Green Close near the entrance to Phear Park when she was approached by a man driving a white van who made comments...

Man arrested following armed police response to firearms incident in Exmouth

A 24-year-old man has been arrested in Exmouth following a police armed response to reports of a male in possession of a firearm in the town on Saturday evening.

The man was arrested at 10.40pm on Saturday evening on suspicion of aggravated burglary. He is currently in custody in Exeter.

Police responded to the incident at around 7.45pm on Saturday 21 September.
